// Thomas Voltan (b. 1997) is a young multimedia artist, photographer, videographer from the Italian city of Voghera. He doesn’t like to speak of himself in the third person, so he preferred to say this:
«I was always interested in art, but it wasn’t always obvious how important it is for me. I grew up with lots of music in my house, singing and imitating comedies (both theatrical and tv); eventually I started playing the drums and studying music. At 15 I discovered photography, which never left me, but I did not understand the importance it had until much later. After high school I was lost and I followed a path which led me to psychological and neuro-biological studies (UniPV, TNPEE, 2018-2021) while also attending acting school (2017-2019) – studies which deeply influenced me. Eventually I realised I was on the wrong path. In 2022 I won a scholarship for the Photography degree at IED, European Institute of Design, in Milan and graduated cum laude in 2025. Recently I’m leaving photography behind to reconnect with my roots of music and performance art, experimenting with video and sound work. In 2024 he gets commissioned from IRCCS Policlinic S. Matteo hospital in Pavia, Italy, to realise In Silenzio (“In silence”), which takes form as an exhibition to talk about fragility in occasion of the national day of osteoporosis. The collaboration is currently ongoing. // </>
